In Bloom

Two of the Nigella Damascenas or Love-in-A-Mist have popped, and there are numerous ready to burst.  One of the two is quite tall with 5 petals, but this one which is much shorter has 12 petals. Apparently they can have anything between 5 and 25 petals. There are numerous varieties of this plant with different coloured petals: dark blue, pale blue, pink and white.

I love Spring as there is always something new in the garden every day.

    1. Thanks very much Sheila. It’s a rather large garden with lots of mature trees and shrubs. There is a sweet-spot in Spring regarding the perennials and annuals when look good as they pop. I’d like to get a few more Summer flowering plants in place for all-year-round interest.
