Maize

Some young maize growing in a field in Wiltshire.

According to the UK Agriculture website, maize is grown mainly as a forage crop here in the UK as the summers aren’t warm enough to grow grain maize. However, warmer summers and earlier varieties mean grain maize has been grown in limited areas of the very south of England.

  1. Love the picture of the maize. The corn here in Minnesota is not doing as well as the maize in your pictures. We’ve had unseasonable cold and very wet days so the corn is much slower growing this year. Love the perspective.

    • Thank you Jeanne. We’ve had the opposite unseasonable weather – dry and very warm! The forecast is for rain and a change to cooler temperatures this week though.
