  1. Ha ha, great minds and all that …
My husband thought I was mad leaning out of the window of our upstairs hotel room in Shanklin because the chimney outside would make a great photo that close up. 😀

    1. 🙂 Chimneys and rooftops have always fascinated me – ever since I was small. My previous attempts at taking roof and chimney shots weren’t too successful. With this one I was in a good position as I was on a hill and the buildings were on different levels going down the hill so I was able to get a good view from on top. I look forward to seeing your chimney close-up 🙂

    1. Thank you Sheila! I was lucky to find these – we took a detour to get to the station and discovered a lot of interesting buildings. Next time I visit, I’d like to spend more time walking around the town. The architecture is amazing.

    1. Thank you farmhouse stories! It’s such a beautiful place with an interesting mix of architecture. There were lots of wonderful buildings which I will spend more time photographing on the next visit.

    1. Thank you FM. I like the character of old buildings too. I also like the mix of styles which can be found together. All that history and life that has gone on too – wonderful!

  2. Ah, I love a good old wonky British roof! They give my husband the heebie-jeebies though, he doesn’t get that we can have such old buildings and rooftops that don’t leak 🙂

    1. 🙂 These old rooftops are great – and the Victorian and Georgian ones have survived for so long, although I don’t know how often repairs have to be done! It’s the craftmanship that I like – all those little imaginative touches.

    1. Thank you Terry. It’s really interesting when there’s a mix of styles like here, although I also love to see Victorian terrace houses with their rows of chimneys. I think you would really love the architecture of some places here in the UK.

  3. Love the rooftops. Just beautiful. I especially love the turret on the brick home. I always wanted a turret on my house or a widow’s walk on the roof. I have neither but I did get my country porch to sit on and drink my coffee. Love the photo as your new gravatar

    1. Thank you Jeanne. A turret would be great wouldn’t it – Rapunzel springs to mind! The Country porch sounds idyllic – I’d like one of those. I had been looking to change my gravatar to something a bit more colourful and decided to take the plunge with the rooftops. Ideally though I should have a Lighthouse Lantern Room!
