A very stormy-looking sky threatens to bring lots of rain to this Barleyfield. It actually didn’t rain that much in the end but it was very cold and extremely blustery.
I like the light which this type of sky produces and the way that colours of plants become stronger and a little more intense.
I love the movement that is visible in the barley and yes it does look ominous out there!

Thank you David! There was a wonderful sky like this on my way to work today but I didn’t have my camera with me. Oh, well – that low pressure system looks set to stay with us for a few days yet 🙂

I agree about the lighting before or around the storms during the day. It always has a quiet glow. Love the tones in the field.

Thank you Brandon. Yes – quiet glow is right. It’s like a subtle electricity – although that may be an oxymoron!

Thank you Gracie. This field did go on for quite some distance as did the wheatfield just behind me. There were some fabulous views here.

I like the photo and the contrast – very dramatic with the dark, ominous clouds. Growing up on a farm, we would be weary of such skies, and at the mercy of the weather hoping the crops wouldn’t have too much damage.

Thank you Fergie. Yes – surprisingly these clouds didn’t bring that much rain. They looked menacing but didn’t produce much!

Thank you Northern Narratives. I love clouds like this – so dramatic. I like the way they make one feel quite small and insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

These are great colors–the golds and greys. I like the line of the front that’s either moving in or away–a lot of movement in this photo.

Wow – thanks so much elmediat! There was something about the light that gave me a real emotional feeling about this place. I wonder if I would feel the same if I went back and it was sunny.
