Here is a photograph of a rare sighting where I live – although it is widespread in the rest of England: an oak tree. I think the reason why there aren’t that many in my area is because they are said to dislike chalky soil.
It’s therefore always a treat to encounter one of these magnificent trees. Luckily I turned around and saw this one silhouetted against a setting sky. As can be seen, it still has most of its leaves intact.
