We had the hardest frost so far last night which resulted in lots of lovely frost patterns. Here is one from the bonnet of a car. I rotated the image 180 degrees. It’s the first in a mini-frost series.

This is stunning; it’s bringing Christmas back to me all over again.
This image could be used as a beautiful, luxurious wallpaper on a statement wall. Beautiful!

Thank you Diana. It actually reminded me of some heavy curtains we have. They are a similar shade of blue with a sheen and a fleur de lys pattern!

My first thought was damask. I love the pattern, and it is quite different from our usual feathered look.

Yes, that’s the word I was looking for: damask. Thanks Sandy. I posted this morning and then rushed to get into work so didn’t have time to think what it reminded me of properly. I have some more interesting patterns lined up. Frost patterns are really intriguing.

A fabulous shot. At first glance, I thought it was a strange cloud formation. Pleased to see you are turning the cold snap to your artistic advantage. Wrap up warm.

Thanks very much Calvin. It does look like strange clouds doesn’t it?! Might be snow tomorrow – a little of which would be nice (without ice).

Beautiful! It’s very pretty when that happens, and the details are so cool when you can photograph them up close. When I got my first DSLR, the first photos I took were of frost on the windows.

It almost looks like a sky at first until I gave it a closer inspection. They do look like ferns don’t they? Very pretty.
