Just a hint of the purple flower of the Cornflower emerging from the protection of its sepals.

Seeing these nascent flower buds gives such a lift particularly when it feels more like an early November day! There’s a strong northerly breeze keeping the temperatures down and, when accompanied by the heavy rain, it feels very unlike mid-May.

  1. That’s good, Meanderer – the little bit of bright and different colour there works tremendously well amongst all the green, and those spiked petals or whatever they are look almost alien! Adrian


    • Thank you Adrian. Close-ups of flowers still fill me with wonder. The form is often so elaborate and – as you say – alien-like! It’s wonderful to watch the different stages.
