Just a hint of the purple flower of the Cornflower emerging from the protection of its sepals.

Seeing these nascent flower buds gives such a lift particularly when it feels more like an early November day! There’s a strong northerly breeze keeping the temperatures down and, when accompanied by the heavy rain, it feels very unlike mid-May.

    1. Many thanks Marina! I’ve been regularly checking on the buds of the Spring flowers in the garden as they are a little late this year. It’s so uplifting to see the flowers begin to emerge!

  1. That’s good, Meanderer – the little bit of bright and different colour there works tremendously well amongst all the green, and those spiked petals or whatever they are look almost alien! Adrian

    1. Thank you Adrian. Close-ups of flowers still fill me with wonder. The form is often so elaborate and – as you say – alien-like! It’s wonderful to watch the different stages.

    1. Thank you so much Shutterbug Sage. I’m pleased you like this image – thank you very much for featuring it in your A to Z post; I appreciate it ๐Ÿ™‚
