Nigella Flower Bud

A Nigella Damascena bud sitting in its leafy ‘nest’. These plants are amongst my very favourites. They have such an unusual form from bud through flower to seed head. They are quite late this season; last year, they were in full flower at this time.

    1. Many thanks Truels! I’d been trying for a couple of days to get a clear shot as it’s in a bit of a shady spot! It is quite a sculptural bud isn’t it?!

  1. So glad you chose to capture the tight furl before the bloom. A gardener friend used to call these lust in the dust because they are so prolific!

Great contrasts in this shot — colour and textures. Good work.
