I usually photograph umbellifers when in flower – usually white or whitish-pink with green – or in silhouette but these umbellifers in seed pod stage caught my eye today. I like the warm tones of pinks, greens and golds against the golden-pink colour of the wheat stubble.

Many thanks Marina. The seed pods are very attractive. It was good that there was a neutral background to set them off!

Thank you Sallyann. There were lots of these umbellifers along the crop field edges – most were still in flower.

It looks like would also be very attractive dry. Maybe you will be able to get a shot of that later.

Yes – they would look good dry. Thank you Sandy.

It looks like it could be a watercolor. Wonderful pastels–and you’re right about the background’s fine contribution.

Many thanks Gary. I seemed to miss this stage of the Umbellifers cycle last year – I photographed flowers and then the dried brown seed pods but I don’t remember noticing the colourful seed pod stage. I’m pleased I noticed this year!

Thank you Fergie. I noticed some more green ones today as I walked to work but not the pink ones.
