Dark Waves

I don’t often post more than once a day but …….. this is my second post of the day today.

It exemplifies the sometimes dark moods brought about by the lack of light at this time of year.

I feel so affected by low light levels – at any time of year.

Just a few weeks until the Solstice ……… but then, January is so dark, also.

  1. Very somber and fitting for this time of year. I very well remember one January in Berlin during student days when we had a grand total of 13 hours of sunlight during the entire month. Love the texture in the closest wavelet in the foreground.

    • Thank you, Gary. It’s that feeling around 2 or 3 in the afternoon when the light starts to fade – particularly on a cloudy, dank, day that gets to me. I think I must have a strong hibernation instinct!

    • Thank you, elmediat. It’s the effect of the clock change at the end of October that does it I think. It’s been compounded by the many dark drab drizzly days this month. It takes a while to get used to suddenly walking home in the dark.

  2. Oh I’m sorry to hear that – do you suffer from SAD? I hope you don’t. I lived near the equator for years, and we had blazing light and 12 hour days all year. Returning to Britain was such a shock – but I’ve managed to get to like all the seasons, and dark as well as bright days. I hope you’re ok – I feel concerned for you.

Anyway, I like the picture very much – wonderful atmosphere, patterns and textures – and having the beach blackish really sets it all off I think – to me its a kind of jumping off point (even tho I can’t swim!) into the rest of the image.

And two posts a day!!! Whatever you’re on >>> I’d like some! Take care! A

    • I do get affected by low light levels but I’m not sure if I have SAD as such. It’s all very interesting, though. I prefer to think I react naturally to the changing light levels and would be best either hibernating or working out in the open during the Autumn and Winter 🙂

I can’t swim either but I really really love being near water. Many thanks, Adrian.

  3. Hold out for the sunshine. 🙂
I find that the darker the winter, the more Christmas decorations I put up.
One year I actually put tinsel on the end on the toilet light string. 😀

    • 🙂 I don’t usually feel low at this time of year but the many dull days have had an effect. I bought some lovely bright paper chains from the India shop a couple of weeks ago. I’m looking forward to putting them up 🙂
