Visited Sir Harold Hillier gardens and arboretum in Hampshire yesterday and decided it would be informative and fun to seek out their ‘Plants of Current Interest’.
A red-coloured Pieris was one of their selection and it was very pretty but this creamy-white version stood out for me. Pieris plants are acid lovers and come from mountainous forest areas. The common name is ‘Lily of the Valley bush’.
I like the way the tiny flowers are seemingly held by ‘claws’ similar to precious stones in rings.
Lovely! Here in California, I captured some nice blooms as well: http://farawaypeachgarden.wordpress.com/2013/03/02/magnolias/ and http://farawaypeachgarden.wordpress.com/2013/02/22/spring-cherry-plum-blossoms/. 🙂
