Veronica: Nestled

A species of Veronica – commonly known amongst other names as Speedwell –  nestled between long grass and a sunny wooden post.

I love this tiny plant which grows in grassy places. The flowers are very small and very pretty. The wikipedia entry on this plant has a subtitle: ‘Problems for lawns’ as it seems that speedwell might take over a neatly manicured lawn. Well, I say: let it! What a lovely plant to have as ground cover and one that doesn’t need as much fuss and bother as a grass lawn.
