Feeling the Heat

Hot-201107

The high humidity is really rather uncomfortable at present although it looks as if it might cool down by the end of the week; thunderstorms are on the way.

This group of heleniums seem to symbolise just how warm it feels at present!

  1. OMG, this picture’s nearly blown my eyes out!!!!!!! Quick, the sunglasses!!! I love this picture, but it has to be one of the most fiery I’ve ever seen – what colours – this is the hottest reddest chilliest pepper of photos! ๐Ÿ™‚ And you’ve got two bees too! Which I think makes four.

Its a super shot, its one of the most striking I’ve seen for sometime; boy is it sharp, the shapes are out of this world, the processing is wonderful, and the combination of colours is just wowee!!!! What are you on? I want some! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Oh, no – I hope your eyes have recovered! It’s very intense, isn’t it? It’s actually an image from my archives – from two years ago. I haven’t done any post-processing apart from a bit of cropping. The light was just right to show off the colours without over-saturating too much.

I really wanted to post something to show just how very very warm it is and this was the warmest image I could find. When I arrived home from work a little while ago, thunder and lightening started and we have had a bit of rain. It hasn’t cleared the air, however. I’m really struggling with the humidity. How is it where you are?

Many thanks for your kind words on this, Adrian.

      1. That’s interesting. Adrian (FATman) had to do the same. What am I doing wrong? I apologise if you have several copies of this reply. I couldn’t convince myself that it had gone. Perhaps it was also into spam.

        1. You are not doing anything wrong. This issue has been affecting UK bloggers on and off for a few weeks. I got caught up in it two weeks ago. Most of my comments were going into people’s spam folders on WP. If the blogger unspammed me, then I was able to subsequently comment okay. It was resolved for me – and others – late last week. It seems now that more UK bloggers are being affected.

There were several forum threads about this as WP didn’t know what was wrong. Eventually, an email to Akismet (the spam filtering service) seems to have sorted things out. See this ‘sticky’ forum thread with contact details. I would advise emailing them. http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/are-your-comments-being-marked-as-spam

Also, a new issue has come up for Talk Talk customers and a large forum thread has developed with regard to this. See: http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/unable-to-load-the-webpage-because-the-server-sent-no-data

Hope all that helps. In the meantime, I will continue to monitor my spam for bona-fide comments. Let me know if you need any more help.

          1. Thank you M. I don’t think my issue is TalkTalk related, since I am able to get to my blog most of the time, though admittedly the TalkTalk server has been intermittently dropping out on occasions over the last few months.

I have emailed Akismet so will wait to see what they say.

    1. Yes – the colours are rather Autumnal, aren’t they?!

We’ve had a few thundery downpours – not enough to quench the thirst of plants nor to cool the temps down that much as yet.

  2. You capture depicts the heat perfectly! We have been struggling with the heat and humidity here in Connecticut too. It has started to cool off now so that’s good. Woke up to rain and fog this morning – still pretty warm and extremely humid though.
