Winter Browns

Plants in seed looking resplendent in brown hues.

Hard to believe that it’s just over a week to Midwinter’s Day and two weeks to Christmas Day. The weather here in southern England is mild – and mostly grey. We have barely had nights cold enough for frost. Last week, I saw many trees still in full leaf and many late Summer and Autumn flowering plants hanging onto their colour. These changing – milder – weather conditions during early Winter are pretty confusing and bemusing. Still,  in lots of ways it is good to have  milder temperatures even if one has to have more grey days because of it.
