windblown3-201409Fading sea thrift flowers look windblown and weather-beaten as they cling to the side of a cliff.

Their delicate demeanour betrays their strength as they remain firmly rooted to the ground – and keep upright on their slender stems – in this exposed position.

I love them.

  1. I really like the way you have the distant and very near flowers are out of focus. For me it makes them look like tiny clouds drifting before the wind, which emphasises the ‘windblown’ feel of the picture.

  2. What a lovely photo. I do admire tenacious plants. This morning I took shots of several hardy little weeds and shrubs that have no right to be alive in our 3-year California drought.

  3. Good stuff! Prefer the upper shot, more structure in the sea which gives more of a feeling of windiness, and the large blurred bloom on the right really points me into the picture while giving a feeling of great depth. A
