Sheep on a Slope

sheep_slope-201411Balwen sheep on a steep grassy slope on a nature reserve. These sheep are brought in to graze on grass, brambles, and ash saplings in order for wildflowers to thrive. What a wonderful way to manage such a place, and also what a wonderful way for these sheep to live.

    • They do, although this one doesn’t feature the sheep strongly or clearly due to the fading light and the fact that I didn’t want to frighten them off, but I like the way they seem to blend in with their surroundings here.

    • Yes, I agree. I really like the way animals are used for this sort of work. At Hillier Gardens in Hampshire, they use pigs to clear rough ground in the woodland area. They do a great job and seem really happy!
