The Flower Seat

flower_seat-201405Pretty little purple cranesbill flowers and plantain seedheads pop up between old lichen-encrusted slats on a rickety seat situated in the river-facing garden of a plant nursery.

I used to enjoy sitting here with afternoon tea from a blue and white stripy teapot poured into polka dot cups, and a huge slice of cake which would sit – but not for long – on a matching polka dot plate, watching sheep graze in the fields across the river.

Weathered almost beyond safe use, the seat would sway from side to side with the smallest of movement, threatening to send its occupants tumbling down the small grassy mound it was situated upon – injecting a feeling of tension into an otherwise lovely laid back vibe πŸ™‚
