The Fog Rolled In

trees_fog-201612Photographed a few days ago, this fog suddenly appeared in a bank behind some trees on an otherwise sunny blue-sky afternoon. It seemed really odd, appearing on such a fine bright day, but perhaps the warming sun had lifted the previous day’s rain out of the ground and into the air.

  1. The fog has reduced this image to a single sllice of the landscape – in a way the epitome of differential focus. I was out briefly this morning in the car to re-fuel it for a drive up to London and glanced sideways and saw a field backed by trees and I would guess that there was a six foot layer of thin mist hugging the ground. No camera, no time to stop – but there was an image there.

    1. Yes – as well as seeing interesting landscape features, the memory of my feet sinking into deep wet mossy grass, the cut blades of which decorated my inappropriately chosen black suede-like boots, will accompany the images!
