Reflections on a Pond

Tall grasses and a pond skater are reflected in our pond.

The water level in the pond is dropping again like it did last year – a result of a very dry May here. We’ve had 18 dry days out of the 23 so far and the wet days have been damp squibs rather than useful for the garden and pond.

It makes me wonder if this Summer will be as damaging dry as last Summer was. We installed another – very large – water butt a couple of months ago to try and capture more of any available rain, and we are keeping the grass longer to prevent it drying out and browning like it did last year. Plants are looking very lush and healthy at the moment, however, and I am grateful for that.

  1. An intriguing image, my friend. And, boy, do I hope we’re not in for a repeat of last summer but, if we are, well early morning walks and then pints of G&T with lots are ice have already proved their worth! 🙂 🙂 🙂
