An Iris (Iris sibirica) freshly blooming this morning after soft warm rain. Here it sits amidst burgeoning buds and lush strap-like leaves in one of several clumps of Iris in the garden. The flowers don’t last very long so you have to make the most of them. I shall cut some to bring indoors for vases.
It’s amazing what a bit of rain can do as, this weekend, the garden and surrounding countryside have begun to burst into colour (and weeds!) after around 3 weeks of dry sunny and, more recently, rather hot weather.
I’m hoping to post more photos of plants from the garden over the coming days and weeks. There’s a lot going on!
Beautiful Iris. I have some in my garden, though buds are just showing.

The buds have been showing for about a week and they have suddenly popped this weekend! You’re in for a treat when yours pop!

They have done well this year – good large lush plants helped by a cooler damper Spring!

Hi, Iris time is relatively brief but very welcome as part of the pageantry of spring.

Yes – it is sadly all too brief. It must take a lot of energy to put on such a display!

Glorious colour. Irises are extravagantly beautiful but all too soon over. Beautiful picture.

Thank you, David. I photographed them on a cool Sunday morning – a rare bit of coolness amidst the hot sunny and humid weather we’re having at the moment.
