Iris

An Iris (Iris sibirica) freshly blooming this morning after soft warm rain. Here it sits amidst burgeoning buds and lush strap-like leaves in one of several clumps of Iris in the garden. The flowers don’t last very long so you have to make the most of them. I shall cut some to bring indoors for vases.

It’s amazing what a bit of rain can do as, this weekend, the garden and surrounding countryside have begun to burst into colour (and weeds!) after around 3 weeks of dry sunny and, more recently, rather hot weather.

I’m hoping to post more photos of plants from the garden over the coming days and weeks. There’s a lot going on!

    1. Thank you, David. I photographed them on a cool Sunday morning – a rare bit of coolness amidst the hot sunny and humid weather we’re having at the moment.
