Here is a photograph of a Magnolia tree in bud. It was a pretty grey day so I decided to photograph the tree in silhouette against the sky.

What a cool gray. The tree looks to dance. 🙂

Many thanks Cocomino! Yes – those curvy branches look as if they are swaying to music don’t they?!

I am sure you are waiting for the blooms to arrive.. that would be an amazing capture as well.

I photographed one magnolia flower on a much smaller tree but it didn’t come out very well – too shady. This tree will be so beautiful in full bloom and it would be lovely to photograph it then. Thank you Savira.

You will be seeing the blossoms soon. Don’t the flowers come out before the leaves?

I think you’re right Sandy. I think the flowers are probably out now as the mild weather this week has made many flowers pop in our garden!

Yes – they do don’t they?! The buds are really furry too – something I’d never noticed before. Thank you Scott.

Your magnolias are quite different from ours. And excellent call going with the silhouette. If your buds are like ours, they are so incredibly interesting from start to finish.

Thank you Brandon. The silhouetted shapes remind me of a pattern on a wrought iron gate. The flowers are really popping now with the lovely weather we’ve had over the weekend.
